Community Bulletin

Welcome to Worman’s Mill Community Conservancy! The Conservancy is a 307 acre Homeowner Association located at the intersection of Mill Pond Road and Monocacy Boulevard, in Frederick, Maryland. At build out, the community will boast 1,497 homes.

The community is divided into ‘clusters’. Each cluster has its own set of services, from front door trash pick up to door to drive snow removal, and lawn service. There are town homes, detached single family homes, as well as condominiums. All are state-of-the-art in design features.

The amenities in the community include a 7500 square foot clubhouse which encompasses a library, exercise room, billiard room, card room, and putting green. There are also many activities for community members held at the clubhouse. The manager’s office is also located in the clubhouse.

Police activity on Friday night, August 20

Many of you have contacted the Worman’s Mill Conservancy Board, the Worman’s Mill Civic Association or Patty Vasco looking for further information in regard to the police activity on Friday night, August 20. Here is the report I received from Corporal Marty Holt, our NAC representative at the Frederick Police Department:

“Several people were located in a vacant house and a neighbor called the police. When we got there several people were arrested and one subject fled into the woods behind Jubal Way. [Jubal Way is not located in Worman's Mill. It is located in the Highlands at Tuscarora community, next to us and accessed form Waterside Drive and Monocacy Blvd.] It was determined that the person who fled had other outstanding charges and a perimeter was set and a search that included air support (helicopter) was conducted. The subject was not located that night but has been recently arrested.”

I hope this report will put to rest the rumors that have been circulating for the past few days. I think this incident and its outcome show how important it is to be alert to your surroundings and to call the police when something does not seem right. Yes, this call had a more dramatic outcome than most calls to the police but a vigilant citizen played an important part in a criminal being apprehended.

Thank you,
Christi Carlisto

The Worman’s Mill Photography Club

The Worman’s Mill Photography Club meets on the 3rd Friday of the month from 6:30 to 8 pm on the first floor of the clubhouse.

If you enjoy photography at any level of skill, please join us and bring your camera with you! We also invite you to bring a print (8-1/2 x 11 inches) of a photo you’ve taken based on the theme of the month to exhibit in our photo frame in the clubhouse. After placing the pics in the frame, we have a meeting to discuss anything photographic that interests those present.

The next meeting is August 20 at 6:30 pm. The theme for August is “SUMMER FUN.” Try to click that perfect picture to represent the many laughs and fun of August.

If you have questions, please contact Carolyn Franklin at 301-694-5560 or cpftennisnut@verizon.net.

Conservancy Meeting Schedule

Please note the dates for the next several Worman’s Mill Conservancy Board of Trustees meetings at http://www.wmconservancy.com/trustees.html#calendar. The August 18 meeting has been cancelled. Because the Board regular meeting schedule during a year has been expanded, the August meeting has been dropped in favor of having three more regular meetings this year. The next regular meeting is September 29.
